Child’s death sparks tension at Siraha Hospital over alleged medical negligence

Siraha, June 29: Tension flared at the Provincial Hospital in Siraha on Saturday after the death of a 10-year-old boy during treatment, with family members alleging medical negligence.


The deceased, Rajan Mahara from Ward 6 of Siraha Municipality (Basbitta), reportedly walked into the hospital for treatment but died shortly afterward. His relatives claimed that his condition was not life-threatening and blamed negligence on the part of the medical staff.

Angry locals and the boy’s family staged a protest outside the hospital, burning tires and blocking the road. They demanded immediate action against the doctor allegedly responsible for the incident, leading to disruptions in transportation.


To prevent the situation from escalating, a large number of police personnel were deployed around the hospital premises. DSP Birendra Paswan, spokesperson for the District Police Office Siraha, said authorities are investigating the incident and working to maintain law and order.


The hospital administration has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident
